Film Poster
For the film poster we have planned to use a picture of a road as the background to emphasise the title of the film 'Through the miles..'. We will use bright colours within the poster as this conforms with the conventions of the romance genre. I have decided to use the same font as I will use in my trailer as this will show continuity throughout the whole project.
Magazine
For the magazine poster I will be going against the usual conventions of the Empire magazine. I will make the cover very girly as this is keeping up the continuity of the romance genre. I think the magazine will appeal to the pick n mix reader. I will advertise various articles within my magazine cover so that the audience can pick which articles they will want to read.
Props
Another element which adds to keeping organised when filming is creating a props list. This will be an important part of our planning as the props usually play an important part to the characters acting. For example when we use a suitcase within our trailer, it shows the main protagonist female to be arriving in her new destination. Also when we see the scene with the girls raising their glasses, it shows the females to be happy and having fun. Also we may add more props in at any given time that we feel another prop may work within that part of the trailer. This will be stated in my evaluation whether I changed any part of my planning.
Costumes
The costumes we chose for our trailer are everyday normal clothing. I think this is a usual thing within a romance film and we are complying with the conventions of a romance trailer. We can see this in the '10 things I hate about you' trailer. They wear very casual clothes just as the characters have in our trailer. 10 Things I Hate About You Trailer. (shows casual clothing).
We have also chose to use bright colours for the clothing as this adds more of a soft touch to the film whereas if we used dark clothing like we did in our AS media project then the audience may think that the trailer is horror or has horror conventions.
Both male and female costumes within our trailer are going to be casual. After looking at this part of the planning in detail I feel that it may be good to add in a scene that shows the characters dressed up formally in suits and dresses as this may add to the element of romance.
As we are filming as trailer and not start to a movie, we have to show clips from the whole film. This means that we need to use a distinct variety of different locations. We have decided to go to the beach at Barry in Wales. A beach shows conventions of Romance and will add to the trailer well. There are many different locations within Barry in which we can film for our trailer. We will also be filming in the centre of Birmingham, in a park and also in a friends house. Within Brimingham we will film by the canals which can add a sublte sense to the trailer and add tranquility and peace. I feel we have chose very good locations to make our trailer the best that we can.
Shooting Schedule
Shot Log
Most of the planning we done was to help us to keep organised when filming our trailer. We created a shot log which states all the camera shots which we will take when filming our trailer. When we produced the shot log we ensured that we incorporated a variety of different shots so that when the trailer is put together it will be clear of the variety of camera angles which we use. There are a range of different camera angles which present a different feel to the film. E.g. A close up shot may show tension or an important prop. When filming a trailer it is important to get many shots and edit them together to make the trailer fast paced to add extra suspense.
The link below shows a fast paced trailer to the film 'Paul' which contains a variety of different shots and locations just as we will try to do. 'Paul' trailer
Call Sheets
To stay organised we created call sheets when planning our trailer. The call sheets enabled us to see who we need on each day and at what time. They also state the location we will be using, the characters we will need and also which equipment will be needed. I feel that creating call sheets is a very good aid to keeping on task and organised.
Script
When planning to film anything with speech in, a script is always very useful. It can help the actors to stay in character and also prevent them from having to improvise on the spot. Even though many shots of a scene can be taken and edited, it will be best to have a script to save time. As this is a trailer and not a film which we are filming, the speech has been kept to a minimum. We have stuck too the romance film conventions and we can see this in the speech used. The speech contained within our trailer helps to establish and keep the continuity within our film.

This picture shows the romance film 'A cinderella story'. Running alongside the idea of adding formal clothing into our trailer, this picture shows two of the characters in formal dress and we can immiediatly see romance between the two characters.

Shooting Schedule
The shooting schedule we created works well alongside our call sheets and the shot log. It states what we will be filming and what camera angles we will use. Just like the call sheet we can plan our days filming but what the shot log also includes details of angles, shots and camera techniques which we will use.

Another important part of our planning was making a storyboard. The storyboard we created shows the different clips of our trailer and what will be happening with these clips. Underneath each picture, the camera angle which will be used is also stated. A storyboard can help us keep our ideas on track and also help us film in chronological order. Even though time order isnt usually important in a trailer as different clips from different times are usually edited together to create the trailer.
Mind Map
This is the mind map I created with the initial ideas for the trailer. I used Gauntletts make and connect theory here by using lots of different bright colours. By doing this I feel the mind map will help us more as I am more of a visual learner. The mind map will help us keep on track with out ideas but as this is only the planning of our trailer, the ideas were subject to change at anytime. It helped us plan the characters, locations and also the storyline. The storyline could have gone one of many ways but this mind map shows the exact way in which we want the trailer to go. I think that the mind map was a very important part of planning as it brings together all the ideas into one place.
Full Cast
My fellow group member, Charlotte Savage, will play the main protagonist girl within our trailer. As she also studies Performing Arts she is good at acting and knows different acting techniques which we can add in to our film. As she is the main protagonist I know she will be a reliable character and will be available for filming at any time she is needed. We will have two main males within our film both of which will act as a male progtagonist.
The first male is Adam Williams. We used Adam within our AS media coursework and he also studies Performing Arts so we know that his acting skills will be good enough to add into our trailer. As a good performer also, we know that he will not be shy when it comes to acting in front of the camera.
The second male is Adrian Palmer. We haven't used Adrian when filming before so we don't know if his acting will be as good as Adams and Charlottes who study performing arts. Adrian is the oldest actor with him being the age of 22. However this fits in well with our storyline and I believe and hope that he will be a good actor and performer within our film!
There will also be extras within our trailer who will be played by our close friends, Amy Haines and Jess Bird. I will also appear in one of the scenes of the trailer as an extra.
Group and Job roles
In my group there is me and one other person, Charlotte Savage. I worked with Charlotte in the AS project so I know that we work well together and that we produce a good final product. We have similar and different ideas so we can both contribute to the planning of the final product.
I will be the one filming the product whilst Charlotte will do the acting. Even though she will be on camera, I will ensure that both of our directing ideas go into the filming. Also if i need any advice on camera angles, I know that Charlotte will be on hand to help whenever I need it.
After we have done all of the necessary filming both Charlotte and I will sit down and edit the film, adding the needed effects and backgound music to the trailer.
